Nina Victoria Hickman describes herself as a contemporary artist whose primary medium is photography. Her journey through photography began when she was a child, learning photography basics from her father, then continuing her photographic education through high school and college classes, coupled with her own independent experimentation. By age 16, Nina’s black and white still life prints were displayed in her local Riverside Art Museum. She has since been published in several magazines as both photographer and model and aspires to continue her work to be published and exhibited in galleries. Nina has earned her Bachelor of Arts in Digital Photography from Southern New Hampshire University.
In addition to creating in the fine art niche, Nina also enjoys a plethora of artistic expression. In photography, Nina enjoys a very broad range of photographic expression, saying she “enjoys capturing anything that is enjoyable and visually interesting”, from still life and product photography to nature landscapes, macro photography, and street photography. “I don’t believe being an artist means you have to choose one area. While we artists may have a preference or specialty, I think every artist has the right to dabble and expand within the realm, bleeding their creativity across the genres and mediums they find desirable. Artistic expression shouldn’t be confined”.
Currently, Nina lives in Corona, California, just forty minutes east of Los Angeles with her wonderfully supportive husband, Tony, and their three sons. Aside from photography, Nina enjoys painting, sketching, crafting, and reading. She feels incredibly blessed to pursue her dreams and live a life full of artistic expression.
